2551: The Daego Operations are a complete failure. Yet, be it by the hands of stubborness or persistance, Operation Eureka has yet to be cancelled. As the battle-weary Task Forces head back to Earth onboard the Sword of Giants, humanity's borders continue to shrink, eroded away by the unstoppable power of the Covenant onslaught. There is no time to rest, not when an artifact of uncontested power can fall into enemy hands.
They call it the "Casket", an ancient machine devised by a primordial race of super-beings, who possessed such a mastery of the universe that they were almost universely likened to gods. The Covenant calls them "Creators". ONI calls them "Forerunners". Recent information suggests the Caskets were designed to remove worlds that were no longer of use to these Forerunners. Worlds that they saw as "unclean". It is assumed that in their godliness, the Foreunners has little need for solar systems which they deemed uneccesary.
But many questions are left unanswered. Why are these Caskets so powerful? Why are the Covenant so uncertain of their locations? And, if they were used to remove unwanted systems, why were they left intact?
Questions would have to wait, as the Eureka Task Forces prepare to dock with Borneo Station, eager for a few moments of serenity before they inevitably enter combat once more. This time, they won't go down so easily.
