The year is 2544. The Covenant, in their relentless genocidal crusade against humanity, encroach ever deeper into the Inner Colonies, burning worlds wherever they go. The United Nations Space Command is all but powerless to stop them; with their vastly superior technology and immense numbers, the Covenant is a scourge against which only very rarely a victory is achieved, and even then, always at high costs. The situation for humanity is grim.
The planet called Initiation, a rocky terrestrial world in the Inner Colonies that was once a mining colony and a safe haven for the UNSC throughout the war, is now under attack by a Covenant fleet. The local UNSC forces, aided by survivors from the Battle of Miridem, struggled to defend the planet, whose population has largely been wiped out as evacuation efforts failed.
In a desperate attempt to escape Initiation's inevitable glassing, the last remnants of the UNSC in the colony's capital city of New Utica, including Bravo Platoon of the 5th Shock Troops Battalion's 3rd Company, decided to journey to the underground stronghold of the local Insurrectionist cell known as Liberty For Initiation, located deep within the massive abandoned mines the planet is known for.
After convincing the rebel leader to provide them shelter from the Covenant's orbital bombardment, the UNSC forces arrived at Liberty's headquarters. However, conflicts between them and rogue Insurrectionists led them to discover that Initiation had been spared from glassing as a result of a Lekgolo rebellion on board the Covenant fleet.
In an effort to find a slipspace-capable ship, Bravo travelled to an abandoned off-shore mining rig in the Erechtheus Ocean, all while being hunted down by Lekgolo forces. They successfully acquired a corporate corvette and the rig's AI, and are now in a race against time to pick up the civilians and officers from the LFI base before a large Covenant fleet arrives to crush the rebellion and any remaining UNSC forces...
Rules!
- First and definitely foremost: you are not to make your character carry out actions considered to be overpowered. Slaughtering the hordes of the Covenant isn't something anyone but a Spartan can do without assistance.
- Also, no fridge magic. You're not invincible.
- Killing and/or permanently injuring player characters without permission of their owners or of a GM (read: someone who carries authority in this RP, since we don't have an actual GM) is not allowed. Attempting to do so will either result in out-of-character backlash or in-character retaliation; it is not unlikely that your own character will end up dead instead.
- That said, anything non-lethal cannot simply he ignored or avoided all the time. If someone dishes out several attacks at you, at least some of them are going to hit. You're not a god.
- Take the RP seriously! If you're bored, go find someone else to bother, don't go goofing around in here.
